My Story
For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of creating a place where animals could be free — a space filled with love, safety, and belonging.
That dream came full circle when I returned to the Philippines last year (after 25 years)!
While traveling along a mountain road in Davao, I heard the sound of a car hitting a stray dog — followed by a cry that pierced my soul. Everything stopped. I cried, I questioned, I felt misunderstood. I wondered why no one else felt what I felt.
That single moment changed me forever. It opened my eyes to the deep suffering so many animals in the Philippines face — lives forgotten, pain unseen, compassion missing where it’s needed most.
That was my calling.
That night, I went home researching how to start a nonprofit. It felt impossible at first — too big, too heavy, too much for one person. I remember thinking, “Who am I to take on something so big?”
But love has a way of guiding us toward what’s meant for us.
And now, a year later, I’ve taken the leap. I left my job and founded Barkada Paws Project — a heart-led nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating animals in the Philippines, while building a compassionate community for both animals and humans.
Shaped in my lifelong bond with animals and my experience as a veterinary technician, this project grew from more than passion — it grew from a journey of healing and coming home to self. Through reconnecting with nature and my Filipino heritage, I realized that every path I had taken — in work, in life, and in spirit — had quietly led me here. What once felt like separate callings now come together as one purpose: to nurture, to heal, and to honor the sacred connection between all living beings.

Our Mission
We are dedicated to freeing animals from suffering through rescue, healing, and belonging — giving them the safety, care, and unconditional love they deserve.
This mission extends beyond rescue work. It's about bringing animals and humans together and remembering that kindness and connection have the power to restore lives — including our own.
My long-term dream is to create a sustainable animal sanctuary in Davao, Philippines — a sacred space where:
- Rescued animals can heal, play, and live freely
- Live-in caretakers receive jobs, housing, and purpose
- The land is honored and restored through eco-conscious design
- Every being — animal, human, and Earth — experiences restoration and wholeness

I’m raising $45,000 to fund one year of foundational work — including operational expenses, my living stipend so I can devote myself full-time to this mission, startup costs, and immediate support for Pawssion Project, a trusted organization already rescuing and rehabilitating animals in the Philippines.
Through this collaboration, we’ll help support the rescue and care of up to 120 animals over the next year — giving them safety, nourishment, and a new chance at life.
Included in this goal is a dedicated Bacolod Sanctuary Rebuild Fund, helping Pawssion Project restore their sanctuary after it was damaged by Typhoon Tino.
Together, we’re making a difference now: providing urgent relief today while laying the groundwork for the future Barkada Paws Project Sanctuary — a lasting home of love, healing, and connection.
